Smokey eyes are great and timeless, but even the smokey eye look has branched out by adding some color to the eye from time to time. For the other times when you want to use eyeliner but you also want the season's hottest color as well, then put your hands together and use both. To get a great pop of color on your eyes without saturating your lids, simply grab your favorite brown or black eyeliner, along with one of the ultra-chic eye colors of the seasons.
Things You Will Need:
Grab Your Trusty Liner
Begin by grabbing your trusty brown or black pencil eyeliner. A liquid eyeliner could also be used if you want a more definite line, but for this example I am suggesting a pencil eyeliner. Line only the top lid or the bottom lid with the pencil eyeliner, but not both. Make sure you line from corner to corner and then take your pinky and very lightly run it over the line to smudge it slightly.
Move on to Color
Now you need to add the pop of color to your eyes, without giving your lids a complete wash. Simply grab your flat eyeliner brush and a vivid and bold eyeshadow. I would suggest trying Von Natur mineral eyeshadows because they are natural and vegan but they come in a wide variety of very vivid shades. Chocolate shades, gold, deep blues, or other colors for the season can be found in the Von Natur mineral eyeshadow line.
To add the color to your eyes, begin with a dry application. Simply tap a small amount of the mineral eyeshadow into the lid, swirl with the flat eyeliner brush, tap off the loose powder, and apply to the top or bottom lid that you have not lined with the pencil eyeliner. If you want more color then apply a second application. For a night look or if you want the color to be even more vivid then dampen the flat eyeliner brush with an oil-based eye makeup remover. Then dip the dampened brush into the mineral shadow, swirl, tap off the loose powder, and line your eye once again. To finish the look, add a couple of coats of your favorite mascara. Feel free to switch the pencil eyeliner to the other lid the next time you try this, to see if you like it better on top or bottom. Personally I like to use the pencil on the bottom but both ways are very "Hollywood" and glam.
