Quick Beauty Tips for Everyday Life

Filed under: , , by: Cosme

Here are a few useful tips to help women stay beautiful every day. You would be amazed how many of those will seem so simple to you but will actually make a huge difference!

First of all you need to keep your face in place for longer!

Buy a small pump spray bottle that you can usually find easily in the travel sections of high street stores, and fill with water. Use the pump spray to spray a fine mist over your face once you have applied your face makeup (pre-eye make up). You quickly will find that it sets your make up for the whole day making it last longer and preventing the need for continuous touch ups which is obviously a great news.

The second tip is to consider having your eyelashes tinted.

Having your eyelashes tinted is relatively quick and easy if you go to professional beautician (make sure they do a skin test beforehand) and is much more convenient and cheaper than using mascara every day, plus it does not run, smudge or take ten minutes to get off before bed!

The next tip is a basic one. You need to keep it simple with soap!

Simply go old school and rediscover real soap. There are plenty of delicious scents, it is natural, long lasting and often seems to clean better too, so try it and you will not regret it!

This one may look a bit silly but it is actually a good one that will help you make some savings here. Use the very last bit of all your products by taking pump action lids off, cutting open soft plastic tubes or using brushes to extract the last bits from cosmetics. You will really be amazed how much is left in the bottom when you would normally just throw them away!

The last tip will help you fix your hair quickly. If your hair is looking a little greasy or you have not had a chance to wash it but want to freshen it up, sprinkle a little talcum powder through the roots, tip your head upside down, give it a shake and if you can, a quick blast with the hairdryer and this will give it a new lease of life.

Those tips just really seem to be basic tips but you will see that they will make your everyday life different and help you stay beautiful every day.

Beauty Tips - The Art of Blush Application

Filed under: , , by: Cosme

beauty tip
Women wear blush because it adds color, glow, and radiance to the face. It is perhaps one of the most essential elements in a woman’s makeup bag. Blush alone can enhance the delicate features of a woman’s face and bring out the best. However, if not applied properly, blush is the one face makeup that can offset the entire balance of makeup on the face. Your face is what the world sees so you don’t want to mess with it a lot. Experimentation is fine, but over doing your makeup is not a good idea. In this article we present you with various tips you can use to apply proper makeup.

Learning how to properly apply blush can make a world of difference in how you look, feel, and present yourself to the world. You will find that when done properly it is both quick and satisfying at the same time.

It is very easy to apply blush, but you must first have the right tools to do so. When you purchase powdered blush, it likely comes with a brush already. This brush is small and generally of lesser quality. It is crucial for proper blush application that you use a larger, fuller, and rounder blush brush. These can be found in any high quality brush set, it is generally the second largest brush in the set.

The first step in proper blush application is to ensure that you are choosing the right color. The blush color you choose should match the cheek color after exercising, and work with the lip color you are wearing. This color is your skins natural glow, therefore, you want your blush to match that color in close similarity. You should also think about the time of day you are wearing the color as well. Darker colors for evenings and lighter colors during daylight. Lastly, when talking about choosing the right color, take a look at your lipstick, the color of the blush you choose should be in the same general family of lipstick colors.

After choosing the right color for your skin, you now have to choose the blush type that suits you best. If you have dry skin, you might want to consider using creamy blush, this helps keep the skin moist. However, for those with oily skin, powdered blush works best.

Finally, you have chosen both the type and the color, now we can begin applying. Before you apply your blush, you should apply all of your other face makeup first. This includes eye makeup, powder, and foundation.

Now, if using powdered blush, take your blush brush and lightly put a little bit of your favorite blush color on it. You will then want to tap the brush gently to make sure that you do not have any extra powder on the brush. If you are using creamy blush, take your middle finger and get a little bit of blush.

Now you want to get in front of the mirror, put on your best smile to yourself and now you are ready to go. You start on the apple of the cheek; you will want to move the brush up the bone of the cheek, moving towards the hairline, for powdered blush. For cream blush, you start in the same spot, but instead blend as you move upwards towards your hairline.

If you have a full face, you will want the blush to be near the hairline, on the outside of the face. For those with high cheekbones, the blush should be concentrated on the center, which highlights these bones. If you want a look that is less dramatic and more natural, you can blend more blush downwards. This should give your face a more natural looking touch.

First - Tools

Make sure you have everything you need to give yourself a French manicure. You will need the following items:

• Pale Neutral Polishes - Sheer with casts of peach, beige, or pink

• White Polish

• Tip Strips

• Top Coat

• Base Coat

• Nail File

• Clippers

• Cuticle clippers/eliminators

• Buffer

You might want to consider purchasing a French manicure kit that has all the polishes, strips, and coats that you will need in one spot.

Second - Getting Prepared

You will want to shape, file, clip, and buff your nails before you begin. Your cuticles should be trimmed, pushed back, and tended to. Make sure the nail is completely free of nail polish, clean, and dry thoroughly before you begin the next step.

This step is essential to creating the perfect French manicure, if your nails are not looking their best, the French manicure will not look its best either. Make sure you take care in this step as well, so you do not damage your cuticles or nails. Shaping, clipping, and filing should not be done after getting out of the shower, your nails are extremely weak at this point.

Third - Create the Art of the French Manicure

The hand you are working on should be laying flat on a surface, preferably a hard surface. You will then want to apply your base coat to each nail. This base coat prevents the rest of the ingredients in a French manicure from staining the nails.

After applying the base coat to each hand and allowing it to dry, it is time to place the tip strips onto each nail. You want the strips to go just under the white of the nail. With the strips in place, begin putting your white polish on the leftover nails. Allow this white polish to dry thoroughly.

Remove the tip strips once the white has dried and now you can begin applying the sheer neutral color - the one with peach, beige, or pink casts - over every nail entirely top to bottom. Once this has dried, you will then apply the top coat that finishes off the French manicure professionally.

The look of your nails impact the over all looks of your hand. Good looking nails will mean that your hand looks great as well. When your nails are so healty that they shine so does your personality. No longer do you feel ashamed when handing your hand over for a handshake, afraid that someone might notice your damaged or poor nails.

Knowing how to look after your nails is an imperative part of looking good. Most people don’t pay much attention to their nails, which drastically impacts their overall personality. By following these simple to do steps your nails will begin to look beautiful and radiant. This will impact the way your hand looks in a positive way.

And there you have it, a guide to doing your very own French manicure.

Exfoliation and Masks for Beauty Care

Clay and mud masks

Anthropologists claim that clay and mud masks have been used since before the time of written language. With their superior oil-sopping, pore-clearing, and skin-tightening abilities, these masks continue to be popular among those with oily and normal skins.

Clay and mud masks can generally be used once or twice a week. They are applied to clean skin and allowed to harden for 15 to 40 minutes, before they are rubbed off with a wet cloth and the face splashed until remnants are removed. While many of these masks contain only a special type of purified mud or clay, many also contain added extras such as sulfur, alpha hydroxy acids, herbs, or botanical extracts.

Peel-off masks

Peel-off masks emerge from the bottle as a gel. To use, spread a moderate amount of the cool-feeling mask evenly over your face. Do not miss any spots! When the mask has dried, start at the forehead and peel it off; dead skin cells, pore-clogging gunk, and other debris are removed with the mask. Peel-off masks can be used by people with oily, normal, and dry skins, depending on the mask’s individual ingredient list; its bottle should mention what types of skin the product works best for. These masks can severely irritate sensitive or thin skin, and skin being treated with alpha hydroxy acids or trentinoin products.

Epidermal treatment masks

For a strong dose of therapeutic ingredients, your best bet is an epidermal treatment mask. These masks are packaged in face-shaped sheets that have been infused with active ingredients such as antioxidants, moisturizers, or alpha hydroxy acids. They are modeled after medical epidermal patches, such as the ones used to deliver nicotine to smokers. Epidermal treatment masks can be used up to three times weekly.

Studies have shown epidermal delivery sends active ingredients deep into the skin without causing irritation. For smaller areas, some companies make epidermal patches designed to treat specific problem areas.

Suffer from blackheads? Don’t have time for an all-out mask treatment? Smooth a pore strip over the infected area and wait 15 minutes. Pull off the strip and voila - the sebum and dirt that were in your pores will be stuck to the strip. Pore strips are most popular for the nose, but some companies make versions for the chin, cheeks, and forehead as well.

Non-hardenine masks

Soft and soothing, non-hardening masks are applied thickly to clean skin and allowed to sit for 15 to 40 minutes before being tissued or rinsed off. Popular non-hardening masks include calming gel-style versions, which are often formulated to pamper sensitive or irritated skins, and creamy moisturizing formulas designed to hydrate normal to dry complexions.

Try keeping your favorite non-hardenine mask on in the shower. After cleansing your face, apply the mask and allow it to sit as you shave your legs, loofah your elbows, and shampoo and condition your hair. After 5 minutes, rinse the mask off The steam will open your skin’s pores and help the mask penetrate faster, giving you results in a short amount of time.

5 Holiday Fashion Mistakes

If you've ever dressed up shinier than a Chirstmas tree or turned down last-minute party invitations because you had nothing to wear, you'll know that the holiday season is loaded with chances for fashion disasters.

With a little help and preparation, you can learn how to avoid common holiday fashion mistakes and look your prettiest this year.

Common holiday fashion faux pas:

  1. Wearing Too Much Glitz
Beading, metallic and shimmer are all fine for the holidays. In fact, most women wait until a good party to break out all of the glitzy finery. But too much shine can overwhelm anyone, especially if you wear it in areas that you don't necessarily want to highlight (like a beaded chest sweater for a busty gal).
Find out how to wear glitz right: How to Wear Embellishment.
  2. Showing Too Much Skin
Thigh-high miniskirts and cut-to-the-navel dresses may look great on the runway, but in reality they are almost impossible to carry off. Not only is it possible to dress sexy while leaving lots to the imagination, it's also the best way to look your prettiest for the holidays. The secret here is to accentuate your best features with a suggestion: a lace trimmed camisole under a blazer hints at great cleavage, a small slit on a skirt gives a glimpse at gorgeous legs, a halter dress shows off toned arms.
More ideas: Dress Sexy, Not Sleazy
  3. Getting Caught With Nothing to Wear
Nothing is worse than being invited to a fabulous party and having nothing to wear. By keeping a few dressy basics in your closet you can always be prepared for last-minute invitations. You can even re-wear the items and make them look totally different just with accessories.
Find your holiday basics: 10 Party Musts
  4. Making It Too Complicated
No wonder women approach the holidays with dread: trying to coordinate outfits, gifts, travel and parties can overload even the most organized woman.
Instead of trying to match up dressy separates, try a little black dress this season. Not only is it universally flattering, it will take you to almost any event in style. Just add accessories and you're set.

  5. Being Under or Over Dressed
You show up in jeans, everyone else wears velvet; you wear a long dress and others wear business clothes. You're not alone if you have trouble deciphering dress codes on a party invitation: most people get confused by designations as ambiguous as " Dressy Casual" or "Cocktail Attire." A few dressy items span several categories -- such as the little black dress for her or dark suit for him -- both of which can attend everything from semi-formal to cocktail parties.

A definition of fashions

Filed under: , , by: Cosme

Fashion is always changing, slightly elusive, extremely seductive.

It has the power to transform an image and make a social statement.

What is fashion anyway?

Dictionary.com's definitions:

  1. The prevailing style or custom, as in dress or behavior: out of fashion.
  2. Something, such as a garment, that is in the current mode: a swimsuit that is the latest fashion.
  3. The style characteristic of the social elite: a man of fashion.

To some, fashion is an art form. To others, it is almost a religion.

But for most people it is a method of utilizing clothing, accessories and hair to show or hide something about yourself.

You can use fashion to express yourself, to serve as an extension of your personality: goth, skater, soccer mom, professional.

Or you can use fashion to disguise your true self:a conservative in vamp clothing, a vamp in conservative clothing.

Fashion statements can be made with clothes, accessories, shoes, hair, makeup, even your cellphone.

Who decides what's in?

Designers can greatly influence what direction fashion will go in.

Miuccia Prada of Prada and Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton are considered directional designers (Prada for remixing classics, Jacobs for vintage-inspired styles).

Working five or six months ahead of the season, the press attends fashion shows presenting designer collections; the media will then give editorial coverage to trends they think their readership is interested in.

Store buyers work many months in advance of the season to place orders with manufacturers for styles they think their customers will want to buy.

Celebrities and other opinion leaders (socialites and other glitterati) are usually the first to sport new looks, spurring the buying public into accepting emerging trends.

So everyone from big-name designers to celebrities may be behind influencing the direction fashion will go in.

But ultimately, it is you, the consumer, who will decide what is "in" when you choose whether or not to buy into a trend.

Where are the world's fashion centers?

New York, Paris and Milan are considered the major hubs for designers and manufacturers of fashion apparel and accessories.

London, Los Angeles, Toronto, Hong Kong, Sydney and Sao Paolo, in addition to hundreds of other smaller market areas are host to excellent designers and manufacturers.

How can I work in fashion?

Depending on what you want to do -- from designing to retailing -- there are many paths you can take to get to your destination.

Education is a vital ingredient: many universities offer excellent fashion merchandising courses.

Work experience is another necessary step to working as a professional in the fashion industry. Experience at the retail level (as a sales person in a store) is a great way to get a feel for how consumers buy, mix or reject clothing.

Many students are initially attracted to fashion because it seems like a glamorous business:to some degree it is.

But the majority of clothing and accessories that are designed, manufactured and sold have absolutely nothing to do with the glitzy shows associated with famous designers. The majority of people working in fashion have behind-the-scenes jobs at less-than-glamorous wages. Regardless, most who work in the industry are charged by its vibrancy and creativity and get rewards other than fame and fortune (a fun job, creative outlet, etc.).

Hairstyles For Thinning Hair

Filed under: , , by: Cosme

/images/articles/2009/01/13/12/09-01-13-12-30-23-37-yourcooltips.com-Giovanni_Ribisi_Short_Hair_543.jpgGirls and guys, these days, are facing problem with excessive hair fall and damaging hair which can be a result of today’s stressful lifestyle or regular use of harmful hair products. If you are amongst such people, who are looking for a hairstyle that can hide their thin looking hair and make it look fashionable, your search ends here. In this article you will find some recommended hairstyles that are not only fashionable and trendy but will also make you hair look thicker than they really are.
Haircuts For Thin Hair
For Men
Curly Hair- If you are lucky enough to have curly hair, much of your problem is solved. Curly hair always helps minimize the look of thinner hair even if you want to keep them long. This look goes well with the guys who want to keep long hair.
Crew Cut - A short hairstyle is always advisable for thinning hair; it gives the appearance that the hair is thick, but trimmed short. A crew cut will be a great choice for men with thin hair as it joins hair closely together and form a thicker image. You will get the same result with a scissor cut in which hair is clumped together.
For Women
Short Haircuts - If you have really thin hair, don’t experiment with long hair. It will make your hair look even thinner. Even highlighting gives the illusion of thick hair though too much of it can harm them in the long run. Girls can go for a short hair cut with lots of layers in the back to camouflage their thin hair. Keep the layers short around your face, it will frame the face and will make it look just perfect.
Short Bobs - A bob cut with longer hair around the jaw line will make it look thicker. Keep the hair shorter in the back, it will swap the volume towards the sides and will make it look fuller. It is the most fashionable hair cut for girls that will minimize the look of thinning hair without compromising on the style.
Choppy Ends & Bangs - If you really have to keep long hair, go for a hairstyle that leaves the ends choppy and has lots of bangs. Uneven ends, especially in front, will bring the attention to your face instead of your hair. Leave them open drooping over your shoulders. Another technique to make them appear fuller is to pin them behind your ears or tie them in a top-knot style.

These hairstyles are helpful for those who want to disguise their thin hair and want to make them thicker. However, you need to take proper care of your hair as more you care, longer they last. Be careful not to use too much curling iron or straightening techniques as these treatments will damage your hair.

How To Show A Girl You Love Her

Filed under: , , by: Cosme

It is always difficult to show your deepest feelings when it comes to your loved ones, and if it is a girl that you love, it becomes even more intricate. Undoubtedly, a simple ‘I love you’ can flatter a girl in many cases, but it may not be the same with every girl. Every woman likes surprises, and what is better than surprising her with a love note. Nonetheless, those three magical words have no significance if you don’t do things that corroborate your words as it is well said that ‘Action speaks louder than words’. Scroll down to find ways that can show the depth of your love for her.
How to Express Your Love to a Girl
Don’t Say It; Show It - A straightforward approach is the best one, though it won’t help much unless it is reflected in your actions. Helping her with small things will show that you really care for her. At this point of time, don’t give hints deliberately, she might not be ready for this and find it vile or contemptible.
Keep It Real - Evaluate and reevaluate your feelings for her. It might be an infatuation or a natural attachment with a friend that you have mistaken for love. Before uttering something sweet and beautiful to her, be sure of your feelings. Don’t try to fool her with emotional one liner.
Go Slowly - Don’t forget the golden rule of patience. Before going for something big, strengthen your basic relation that is your friendship. You can’t love some body, you don’t respect or care for. Show your care and respect her feelings by supporting her in the toughest of the time. This will establish a bond between the two of you.
Surprises And Secrets - Every girl like surprises provided they don’t make her cry or scare her off. Remember you are picking something for a girl you love and you have to make her feel special, A cute teddy bear with a single rose is a good idea, not to mention with a box of her favorite chocolates. This is the best way to show that she is not one of your casual friends.

Make It Unforgettable - When you know this is the right moment to express your feelings, make the occasion unforgettable. However, in some cases it might not be necessary to say as the both of them know it too well. But if you have to say it, do it without embarrassing yourself or her. There are many ways to say that, you just have to know what will be the winning bid for your girl.

Water Damage

Too much water and chemicals

Get into the habit of wearing rubber gloves when you do any cleaning around the house.

The reason? Cleaning agents can be extremely harsh on both nails and hands. The nails when exposed to water, swell and then shrink back as they dry. This contributes to brittle nails.

Nutritional Steps to Healthy Nails

What you eat will reflect on the health of your nails, too.
  • Lack of vitamin A and calcium causes dryness and brittleness.
  • Lack of protein, folic acid and vitamin C causes hang nails.
  • White bands across the nails are caused by protein deficiency.
  • A lack of sufficient hydrochloric acid can cause splitting nails.
  • Insufficient intake or vitamin B12 can lead to excessive dryness, very rounded and curved ends and darkening of nails.
  • Insufficient zinc can cause development of white spots on the nails.
  • Cuts and cracks in the nails may indicate a need for more liquids.
  • Red skin around your cuticles can be caused by poor metabolism of essential fatty acids.

Here are the guidelines to follow for improving the health of your nails:

  • Eat a diet composed of 50% fruit and raw vegetables in order to supply necessary vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Eat foods rich in sulfur and silicon, such as broccoli, fish and onions. Include foods rich in biotin such as soy, brewer?s yeast and whole grains.
  • Drink plenty of water and other liquids.
  • You may supplement your diet with royal jelly, spirulina or kelp, which are rich in silica, zinc and B vitamins and help to strengthen your nails.
  • Drink fresh carrot juice daily, this is high in calcium and phosphorus and is excellent for strengthening nails.

Eat well and your whole body will be better, healthier, more beautiful!

/images/articles/2009/01/13/11/09-01-13-11-00-31-80-yourcooltips.com-long nails.jpgLong nails on women are considered sexy by many people, but there is caution. According to a study done by Shelly McNeil, M.D., an infectious-disease specialist at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, nails longer than three centimeters (just a bit over one inch) are five times more likely than trimmed nails to carry the pesky pathogens that cause staph and yeast infections. To be on the safe side, Dr. McNeil warns that you need to be diligent about washing your hands (especially after contact with such germ-prone items as doorknobs, public toilets and gym equipment). You also might want to carry an alcohol-based hand gel that can be used to disinfect your hands when soap …

Stylish Nails

Whether you have a hot date or a job interview, a wedding or a casual night out at the bar, get creative and try some new styles for your nail painting needs. Follow the following quick and easy tips to achieve a glamorous look in only minutes!

Basic Hues:

Perhaps the simplest style of them all is the basic solid color manicure. For open-toed shoes, be sure to apply a coat of the same color to your tootsies to accent your outfit and make you feel even more stylish and sexy. Basic styles in neutral and mild tones work very well for first impressions. Save the black and silver for future engagements.

Choose a color that complements the clothing you intend to wear. If the outfit is patterned, pick a shade that appears within the design a bit less than the other colors and use that same shade of nail polish to emphasize that hue.

For an even more fashionable look, do your nails in the solid color and allow them to dry completely. When they are finished drying, use a thin brush or a toothpick with a different color and trace a diagonal line going the same way on each nail. Try to make them as uniform as possible, and as you become more and more adept at painting extra designs, create your own styles for fun.

School Spirited:

If you are still in school or attending college, an exclamation of school pride would wear well on your nails by painting them in your school colors. You can do this in one of many ways:

  • Alternate the colors by painting each nail entirely with one color and doing the next nail in the next school color. For example, if your school colors are blue and white, start with blue on your thumbnail, white on your index finger, blue on your middle finger, and so forth.
  • Paint the nails all the same solid color, and once completely dry, paint the tips the other school color.
  • Paint all nails one color, and using a toothpick or very thin brush, sketch a phrase or ?GO (mascot or school name)!? on your fingernails if it fits.
  • Get creative and make up your own? draw swirls, try to paint your school mascot, etc.

A Girl?s Night Out Styles:

Attract some attention with a wild and crazy style ? be it zebra stripes, metallic glints or otherwise. Perfect for a night to the clubs or a date out on the town.

Do a quick version of a French manicure by painting the base coat of your nails in a neutral tone, such as a salmon color. With a white hue, once dry, paint the tips of your nails carefully and as uniformly as possible. This works best if you are able to grow your nails out a bit so you can use your natural nails? anatomy as a guide.

Glitter and glamour ? Choose a base color to use on all of your nails to complement your outfit. Allow that coat to dry ? paint another coat if necessary. Once the nails are smudge-proof, take a glass coat of clear gloss or a sparkle coat that matches the chosen color and add your own special touches. Dark blue and black look very nice with silver glitter, red with gold glitter, though the combination possibilities are endless. These glittery styles may complement wedding apparel, semi-formalwear and even casual attire.

To save even more time, apply a clear coat to your nails each day to protect the polish from chipping. Experiment with decals and nail transfers if you are not up for designing your own artistic themes. Be creative, do not get discouraged and remember, the more practice you get, the easier it will become each time you try a new style!

Short and metallic

Metallics are all the rage this year, and spring is a great season to sport a trendy new look. For the best impact, keep your nails trimmed relatively short and show off a splashy metallic look. Silvers, greens, blues, blacks ? anything sparkly goes.

Greens are especially hot this year, so apply a pretty green hue to get in on the latest color craze. Take an extra step toward creativity and find a color that matches your car?s shiny coat!

French manicure

For a lovely feminine look, consider a French manicure. Beautiful pale pink nails with emphasized white tips accentuate your fingertips and complement any outfit, swimsuit or occasion. For a flawless manicure, head over to the salon and get your nails done, either naturally or with acrylics.

If you find yourself to be a little bit handy with nail polish or crafty in general, stop at your local drugstore or beauty shop and look for a French manicure kit. Many kits include little sticky strips to help you section off which parts of your nails will receive the white tips and white parts will remain pink. French manicures are still in style and many men find them sexy. Why not go for the girlie look?

Pretty and pastel nail art

It?s likely that pastel colors will never go out of style. Find a shimmery lilac or lavender, a dainty pink, peach or rose, or try other pale pastel shades.

For an extra creative touch, apply an iridescent, glossy, pearly or glittery topcoat. Or, for a modern twist, introduce a delicate white on your tips and enjoy a unique new French manicure.

Traditional nail design

For a no-fail look no matter what your personal style or wardrobe options, consider a standby pink or red. Softer pinks and reds seem to be making a strong appearance on nails, blending nicely with all skin tones, nail shapes and clothing color choices.

Reds and pinks tend to be classics in the world of lips and fingertips, so even if you can?t find a trendy look for your nails, you can stay in style with a tried-and-true color scheme. To get a little daring, gradually tone down your colors until you are moving from fire engine red and lollypop pink to paler shades of carnation, brick and maybe even peach!

If you can?t settle on a particular color, pattern or style for your nails, take a trip to the store and browse the shelves for ideas. You may spot a must-have color or an adorable set of adornments and decals. Get a little wild, a little crazy and a little unique this season. Don?t be afraid to express yourself and remember that healthy nails are important!

Do It Yourself French Manicure

Want professional looking nails without spending your day?s pay in the salon? With some practice and a little patience, you can enjoy fancy nails anytime you want for only the cost of your nail polish!

Their pale pink base and bright white tips characterize the ever-popular French manicures, which are a common request at nail salons everywhere. Professional nail stylists may paint your nails alone or they may apply fake tips if you desire. Based on your personal preferences, a nail designer will give your nails a strengthening and conditioning workout prior to painting them. If you get your nails done with fake tips, you may have to make a trip back to the salon to get your French tips ?refilled? when your nails have grown noticeably.

Keeping longer, healthy nails will be most conducive to sporting a French manicure. To complete your own French manicure, begin with the following steps to prepare your nails for the procedure.

  • Using a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover, wipe off any old nail polish prior to painting nails. Wash hands and soak in warm water for a few moments.
  • With an orangewood stick, gently push back the cuticles so they are all even with each other once the water has softened your skin.
  • With nail clippers, beauty scissors or a nail file, shape your nails evenly.
  • With a steady hand, carefully paint only the tip of each nail with a white hue. A second coat may be desirable, depending on the thickness and opaqueness of the polish. Allow polish to dry between coats.
  • Using a slightly transparent pink or nude color, paint the entire nail once the tips have dried. A second coat may be necessary. Allow nails to dry thoroughly.
  • Once all the coats have dried, apply a clear topcoat to protect your new French manicure. To lengthen the manicure?s lifespan, make an effort to paint a clear coat on each night. Be sure it has ample time to dry completely.
  • If you are feeling especially creative and ambitious, kick off your shoes and match your tootsies to your fingertips!

This procedure is best performed on a lazy morning or evening when no other pressing errands or tasks will get in the way. After painting your nails, avoid doing things with your hands while they dry.

For an easier painting technique, check the beauty section of a drug store or superstore for a French manicure kit. The set should contain, at the very least, nail polish in white and pink or beige and a clear topcoat. Some manicure sets - like COVERGIRL?s French Manicure Kit ? will contain tiny, sticky nail guides. These make the manicure process 100 times easier by allowing you to place the guides on each nail individually, leaving a small margin where the polish can spill outside the tip without tainting the rest of the nail.

As the holidays approach, let your crazy side out by concocting a wildly modified French manicure - green and white for St. Patrick?s Day, pastel shades for Easter, black and orange for Halloween and red and green for Christmas. Have fun and remember, even if you find the do-it-yourself French manicure difficult at first, practice will provide you with the skills you need to create beautiful and perfect manicures all

When you write down your shoping list, as you punch a phone number into your cell, while you wash dishes, do the ironing, clean the windows, or do one hundred other things that women do on any given day ? do you take notice of the condition of your nails?

Our hands are such an integral part of our daily lives, and constantly, we risk their health and strength, often without even noticing, because of the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day activities. Take a few moments each day, or at least a few times a week, to monitor the condition of your nails ? the color, the texture, the appearance of ridges or white marks.

Make a greater effort to take good care of your nails, and you will be thrilled with the way they complement your wardrobe and your own personal style. Consider the following tips as a way to enhance the health and quality of your nails.

Great, Healthy Nails

Apply speed-dry nail polish when time is of the essence.

Drink lots of water. Keep your body hydrated everyday to maintain healthy nails.

Fortify your diet with FDA approved vitamins or supplements. Your fingernails count on you to be responsible with your health and your diet. Unless instructed otherwise by your physician, increase your daily doses of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, protein, Vitamin B12, and zinc.

Touch up your manicure on a daily basis to prevent chips and cracks.

Your nails depend on you to maintain a healthy diet. Take in lots.

Nail polish tips:

Finish with a clear topcoat to add gloss and sheen.

Start with a base coat to strengthen and protect the nails.

Store nail polish in the refrigerator to maintain a smooth consistency.

Try not to store nail polish in a room that becomes cold. The nail polish bottles may break without warning, leaving you with a big mess.

To avoid breaking nails or brittle nails:

Avoid using your nails as tools. This means no picking, scratching, digging, pinching, etc. You know who you are!

Increase the amount of calcium in your diet.

Use products containing alcohol, especially perfumed lotions, sparingly. These items can make nails prone to breaking.

Wear rubber gloves when you do chores that involve continual submersion in water or contact with harsh detergents or chemicals.
